Skyscraper is an American action thriller film that is one of the most awaited movies this year. It has been written and directed by Rawson M. Thurber. The cast of the movie includes Dwayne Johnson, Chin Han, Neve Campbell, Roland Moller, Byron Mann, Pablo Schreiber, Hannah Quinlivan, and Noah Taylor. The shooting of the movie began in Vancouver, British Columbia back in September 2017. It has been scheduled to be released on July 18, 2018 by Universal Pictures in 2D as well as 3D.
Former FBI agent named Will Sawyer lives in the safest and tallest skyscraper in Hong Kong along with his immediate family. The Skyscraper itself is named as “The Pearl”. It has several floors. It acts as society of its own. Despite the risks that had been highlighted by Sawyer being the head of the security; the boss thought that it is impenetrable.
True to what Sawyer believed, the building is attached by the terrorists. It forced Sawyer to take quick action. The things get complicated when he finds out that he is the one to be attacked in particular and his family is trapped above the fire line.
The cast included Dwayne Johnson. He has played the role of Will Sawyer who has been a former FBI agent. In the movie he assesses the security for the Skyscrapers. The actor has earlier been known as the wrestler who then entered the entertainment industry in 1999. Since then he has bagged several roles where the first lead role was in the Scorpion King in year 2002. He has also rendered his acting skills in The Fast and the Furious franchise. It was May 26, 2016 when Legendary Entertainment won the bidding war for the action adventure film named as Skyscraper. It was a Chinese set based movie. At the same time, it was announced that lead role in the movie will be played by Dwayne Johnson.
Rawson Marshall Thurber was announced to be the scriptwriter, producer as well as the director of the film. Moreover, Beau Flynn will be producing the movie via Flynn Picture Company and Johnson’s Seven Bucks Productions and last but not the least distribution rights were announced to be with Universal Pictures.
Back on June 22, 2017 it was furthermore announced that Neve Campbell has signed the project to work along Johnson. Johnson was to play the role of the former FBI Hostage Rescue team leader. He was a war veteran and would be serving as skyscraper’s head of security at the current point of time.
The cast of the movie was joined by Chin Han and Pablo Schreiber in July 2017. In August 2017, the cast was joined by Hannah Quinlivan and Byron Mann. Few days later, it was confirmed that Noah Taylor had joined in. On August 22, 2017; it was announced that Roland Moller has joined the cast as one of the main roles in the movie.
Principal photography of the movie began on August 14, 2017 in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Skyscraper has been scheduled to be released on July 13, 2018 in 2D and 3D by Universal Pictures. Second official teaser of the movie was aired May 23, 2018. Several scenes reveal that how Johnsons i.e. Will Sawyer loses his leg while he was serving the military. It has also been seen that it is this injury that led meeting of Sawyer and his wife Sarah Sawyer. Sarah’s role has been played by Neve Campbell.
